‘Karembo’ is an endearing word that means ‘the beautiful one’. Carved from natural soapstone, the Karembo Head indeed makes for a wonderful gift or tabletop decor for the home. The bowl shaped item is etched and finished off by a polishing of the natural soapstone.
The ingeniously creative Abagusii artisans from Tabaka county have been making these soapstone handicrafts for years. Craftsmen in the region have perfected the art of capturing animals and plants on these pieces of stone.
